Up at 4:45 a.m.? Yep!

Today Dr. Bunyak is excited to be attending here in San Diego the Annual Assembly for the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). This is the national conference for her primary specialty, physiatry (physical medicine and rehabilitation).

What motivated Dr. Bunyak to leap out of bed this morning? A 6 a.m. workshop on a therapy approach she’s already offering at her clinic: Stem Cell Treatments in Osteoarthritis. The goal is to use patients’ own healing powers (fat derived or bone marrow derived autologous stem cells) to regenerate tissue, prevent degradation, and keep our patients racing triathlons, surfing, gardening, and playing with their grandchildren.

On the menu for later today at the conference? “Optimizing Musculoskeletal Performance in the Aging Athlete” and “Lower Limb Injection Techniques Utilizing Ultrasound Guidance.” The day will end with an evening session by the Mayo Clinic on cartilage regeneration.
