meetingonmesaNext week Dr. Bunyak will spend a day at the Salk Institute to attend the 9th annual Meeting on the Mesa stem cell scientific symposium. She attended last year’s meeting and felt it was one of the best summaries of the latest regenerative medicine research that she had encountered. Dr. Bunyak spent a year conducting research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) research scholar and she especially is looking forward to the post-lunch panel: “PANEL III: EPIGENETICS & STEM CELLS IN DEVELOPMENT & REGENERATIVE MEDICINE: This panel will discuss the maintenance of pluripotency or commitment to specific cell lineages and further differentiation into specialized cell types determined by specific changes in chromatin structure that lead to unique patterns of gene expression.” Watch this space for a report on what she learns at the symposium.
